it's a library, a good one but still a library
The staff are awesome, and there is a large selection of books in-house. IT only takes a few days for anything else - and its free!
Although the Madison County Library is not all that spectacular on the outside, it is fantastic on the inside. EVERY one of the staff is gracious, professional, and eager to help. It really is a bright spot in Madison County.
I'm shocked at how loud this library is...and not by the patrons. Not a person sitting in this library is talking but the staff is so loud, it is becoming rude! All over the desks and tables are signs that say Quiet Zone, Whisper Conversations and Please talk softly in the library and Please respect Others with the word SHHHHHH! Everyone abides by it except the staff. I have never heard louder people. I am sitting here amazed that the staff will tell others to be quiet as they continue to chat and laugh. It is a major distraction. Don't get me wrong, the staff are the kindest and most helpful people but c'mon. Couldn't you walk the walk and talk the talk? I wear Bose noise reducing headphones and I can STILL hear them loud and clear. I didn't want to post something negative but perhaps The Madison Library will see this and learn to tone it down. A library is a place to go for peace and quiet not yapping and cackling laughter from the front to the back room of the staff area (I am happy for your happiness, ladies but wow!). When patrons come in for assistance at your desk, if YOU speak lower THEY will as well. Whispering is infectious! :) I am off to Brooks County library in Quitman from now on. So staff of Madison, you are the nicest, sweetest people around, you really are, but could you please use your library voice when working... at a library? Have a great day! :)
This is a good library with great staff. This place has good books and great free WI-FI. If your ever in Madison, you should stop by.
